1- General advisory:

  • New-born babies need the stability conditions especially in their first year age, so it's better to avoid long-distance travels or consecutive travels, in addition, it's better to avoid the changing of daily routine for babies feeding and sleeping.
  • You should make a special corner for your baby which should be quiet, relaxing, and free-smoking with suitable room-temperatures.
  • It's preferable to keep your baby on his back while sleeping.
  • Never leave your baby alone or with other babies whom are less than 6 years old at home or in the car, or in the bath, or while eating.
  • The suitable bath-temperature for your baby is around 36°c.

2- Feeding:

   Breast-Feeding:

  • During the breast-feeding mother should not take any medicine without medical prescription.
  • Mother should not smoke and should not to drink liquor.
  • Feed your infant every 2-3 hours daily during the first month of age.
  • The increase of the baby weight is good indication that his program of feeding is quiet right.
  • Breast-feeding is a good precaution from diseases and it helps to build the immunity system of the infant.

   Bottle-Feeding:

  • Consult your pediatrician before you start feeding the first infant milk.
  • Check temperatures of the milk or any other syrup you give your infant through testing the syrup-temperature on your hand.

   Cereal-Feeding:

  • It's possible to start with cereals starting from 6 months.
  • Don't give 2 types of additional food to the baby at the same time, because he might have allergy of one.
  • Never add salt of sugar to the baby-food.
  • Don't force your baby to eat, leave him relax to take the food.

3- Health Care:

   When you should call your doctor?

  • If your baby suffer from breathing, snoring, and continuous vomiting.
  • Crying all the time before and after feeding.
  • If the jaundice continues for more than 2 weeks.

   Mouth Hygienic:

  • Don't let your infant use the bottle as a pacifier or for continuous sucking because the milk contains carbohydrate which continuous dental contact can cause serious teeth damage, and dental disorders. For this reason a bottle feeding session should one last as long as is necessary for drinking.

4- Nutrition Advice:

   6-8 months:

  • Infant should take milk breast-feeding or bottle feeding.
  • You can introduce the cereal in this age but you should offer one type of cereal for 3 days consecutively before offering new type of food.
  • It's advisable to start with rice as it is natural gluten free.
  • You can also start with cooked vegetable of one type only.

   8-10 months:

  • Infant should continue taking milk breast-feeding or bottle feeding.
  • Now with experience of giving him different types of food, you may start with giving meat, or chicken, but it should be cut into small tiny pieces.
  • Try to give him the food first, then the milk in this stage.

   10-12 months:

If your child start his 10th month, you have to make the child take to using the cup for drinking milk and starting with various types of food in each session, so the child daily feeding would contain:

  • 500-1000ML of milk.
  • 4 meals of baby-food.
  • 4 meals of vegetables and fruit.
  • 1 meal of meat.

     Important Note:

   Never give your child the following, because it may cause choking:

  • Grapes.
  • Chewing Gum.
  • Pop-corn.
  • Carrot.
  • Dates.
  • Cubic Ice/Sugar.
  • All types of nuts.

Mental and neurogical  development

90% of infants are capable of the following movement :-

   2nd month:

  • He notice the face.
  • Responds to the bell / noise.
  • Move his head up.

   4th month:

  • He smiles.
  • He laugh.
  • Move his chest up.

   6th month:

  • Take things.
  • Capable of carrying small weight on his leg.
  •  His head is stable while pushing him from his hands.

   10th month:

  • Can eat pieces of biscuits alone.
  • Can catch cubes with finger.
  • Say "mamy" and "dady".
  • Can stand up.
